The Purpose of ECC Groups

God created all of us to live in community with others and only then can we experience the full life He intends for us (Genesis 2:18; Galatians 6:2). ECC believes life change happens in the context of relationships. Meaningful relationships can be hard to find, and ECC Groups exist to make life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to our members and to the community beyond our walls.

A History of Christian Denominations* An ECC Class! Overview: What’s the difference between the Methodists and Presbyterians? What about Lutherans and Catholics and Anglicans? Baptists are Protestants, right? Are Episcopalians the same as Anglicans? What is Eastern Orthodoxy? Starting at the very beginning of the formation of the church and going all the way up to the present day, we will be looking at the “family tree” of Christianity. I call it a family tree because I think it is important to recognize that we all share the same roots; that is, believing loyalty in Jesus Christ alone as the one true God. Throughout history and throughout various cultural, ethnic and geographical variances there have been a broad variety of expressions of worship, church structure, liturgical practices etc. I think it’s important that we understand where these differences come from, why they exist and how we can foster genuine sense of family and love in Christ. As Saint Augustine said: “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity”Sunday at 9:00 AMCentral Valley

Fortunately, the Bible preserves crucial details about the powerful lessons learned by Godly men who have already faced and answered many of these questions. This study takes you into scripture for a first hand encounter with: -Ten epic stories of the Bible's most talked about men. -Ten proven principles based on their failures and successes. -The huge promise that you can become the man God created you to be! Jesus' Farewell Message* An ECC Class! Overview: This class is an excellent starting place for looking at life from a biblical perspective. Each Lesson discusses the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview daily. Taught by Tim Perkins. Our next study, Jesus' Farewell Message, is by Francis Chan. Do you know Jesus? It’s one thing to know facts about him, but to experience his love, wisdom, and guidance in your life is what it means to follow him. On the night before he was crucified, Jesus invited his disciples into a deep relationship with the triune God—and his invitation stands for us too. In this 6-part series, Francis Chan dives into John 13–17, a passage rich in promises, commands, and eternal truths. He’ll remind us we aren’t called to a part-time faith—we were made to know, walk with, and commune with God.Weekly: Sundays at 9:00 AMCentral Valley
